Christmas Community - The Mowbray & Friends Christmas Market 2023

Christmas Spirit

Our second Christmas Market was the most festive of days on Sunday 3rd of December. It was packed full of all of the good things we love about Christmas - pressies, music, food and yuletide tipples! And we even had snow!!

We welcomed hundreds of guests into The Mowbray - all of our pre-booked guests received a Mowbray Mini Mince Pie and a cup of Festive Punch on arrival - and then pushed past our velvet drapes into The Mowbray which was a cosy, twinkling candlelit hive of beauty...

The day was filled with carols and Christmas songs from our neighbours - The Voice Academy, kisses under the mistletoe, many Turkey Butties, many many Chocolate Orange Espresso Martinis, all the coffee from Mow's Christmas Coffee Cabin  Up On The Roof - and a lot of shopping!

Christmas Community

The best thing for us about our Market is the really special gathering of some wonderful makers and creators. It’s so lovely to spend time with some of Sheffield’s most beautiful creative talent - and watch as their amazing shops are admired and treats and gifts are bought. The feeling of community and connection was really special.

Everyone who was at the Market have beautiful things to buy in the lead up to Christmas - they are all online or contactable - look them up and get in touch to shop independent and local this Christmas!

Thank you all for spending so much time preparing and making, creating to bring your wonderful creations to us for everyone to enjoy...

We loved this message from Lucy from Sparse Vintage...

"Hi Sally and the rest of your fab team! I just wanted to say how wonderful it was to be part of The Mowbray magic again yesterday! You all work so hard to make it such an amazing, special event I had a great day and met some lovely customers and fellow stall holders! Thank you to your team for their professionalism, care and attentiveness. I’m not quite sure how you do it, but it’s definitely a special special day with lots of festive magic! Thanks again. Lucy"

Essence & Alchemy

We were delighted to be joined by Lesley, the wonderful founder and creative mind behind Essence and Alchemy. Lesley had a wonderful collection of stocking fillers and small gifts- from tin candles, tea-light sets, bath salts, incense and facial steams alongside a clutch of glass and porcelain candles.

Novel, Sheffield

Novel is a pop-up book shop in Sheffield, South Yorkshire ran by Kate + Joe.

They sell a curated selection of their favourite reads. They sift through contemporary releases to find the most inspiring, innovative, and thought-provoking books out there, and at the centre of the curation is a diverse list of authors, themes, and publishers.

"After over a decade of relentless discussions about opening a bookshop, we realised there was no time like the present to make the dream come true rather than keeping it as the ultimate retirement project. Joe & I add a curated selection of our favourite books each month to Novel’s range, that we have read and loved, and hope you will too. We'll have a range of gift ideas for the bookworms you're shopping for this festive season, from board books for little ones through to exciting contemporary releases for adults.
