We are excited to present a proper deluxe feast of a takeaway for the end of February - The Mowbray’s Chalet Bistro! Winter warming, comfort food made from scratch in our kitchens - using our best and most favourite ingredients of the season.
Taking some inspiration from previous supper clubs (and a daydream of dinner at a cosy french restaurant - sigh - or a mighty apres-ski feast - sigh…)
We hope you’ll share a special evening on either Thursday 25th or Friday 26th February (or both!)
Light the candles and fill your glass! Order as much or as little as you’d like… This is a beauty of a takeaway designed to transport you to someplace lovely for a night of escapism!
Our takeaways work on a preorder basis mostly due to having to work really closely with our suppliers during these challenging times - and also because we tend to sell out quite quickly for that reason we ask that you order by Tuesday 23rd February - 4pm to guarantee your order!

TO START
Le Pain (v) : Mowbray-made Batarde & Salted Butter £4.50
Our batardes are made with a sourdough starter - freshly baked with a pat of salted butter (v, g)
Duck & Rabbit Rillette £7.50
Slowly confit Gressingham duck & wild rabbit, shredded and seasoned with winter herbs, citrus & spice. With cornichons & pickles. Perfect for two to share as a small starter
Tartiflette Tart (v) £7.50
Caramelised shallots & sliced potatoes in puff pastry, with a melting slice of Reblochon. A large slice ideal to share as a small starter or for a veggie main (v, g)
MAIN COURSE
Beef Shin Bourguignon £10
British beef, steeped & cooked in red wine. Garnished as traditional with baby onions, lardons & parsley. Main for one (g)
Mowbray’s Choucroute £9
Shredded white cabbage, very lightly pickled and cooked with cider. With french Morteau sausage & home smoked pork belly. Main for one or as a side to share
Choux Farci (v) £8
Savoy cabbage stuffed with rich braised lentils & sauteed celeriac. Main for one or as a side to share (v)

Choux pastry buns filled with hazelnut creme patissiere. Lovingly drizzled with rich dark chocolate ganache (v, contains nuts)

Chef's Note
One of the biggest challenges and delights has been trying out different ‘at home’ menus. We were so keen to continue to connect with existing and new customers and we have felt so encouraged by the support by all those who have ordered with us. The love of good food has even sparked connections with The Mowbray - and we’ve seen many guests book their special events with us for in the future.
The Mowbray at Home has been a great success and joy since we started in March last year. Over summer when we were able to open for small numbers, and under various restrictions we had great turnouts for our Diner and Kebab Shop events, and took such pleasure in cooking for and serving small family groups and households of friends. Some of the small, intimate supper clubs we were able to curate during August & September were some of our favourite events and menus we’ve ever hosted.
A totally new concept for The Mowbray has been our special takeaway events. Kebab Shop in particular has translated so well into a hot takeaway and we are delighted to have been able to bring it through to 2021 - it’s wonderful to be a regular part of our guests’ weekends!
