Slow & Soulful
As we enter deep Winter we turn to firelight, candlelight and gatherings with kindred spirits. Our second January Supper Club on Friday 21st is a real feel good affair with a plentiful supper and is a proper winter warmer.
This is a must for anyone who enjoys slow, soulful food that is reflective of the time of year.
As ever our focus is on an abundance of seasonal ingredients and the joy of cooking simply. We can’t wait to present all of the flavours, textures and tones that cooking on fire and flame bring. And of course the Feast will be all about the primal feel goods that come from fire and camaraderie.
The Fire Feast
The Fire Feast will be prepared Up On the Roof in our Fire Pit and served downstairs as a rolling feast in the joyful candlelit beauty of The Mowbray. We’ll be building a fire and slowly roasting the tastiest and hearty picks of the season over the flames. We’ll make use of the dying embers to gently smoke carrots and braise leeks.
On The Table
Toasted oat & treacle bread with butter (v, g)
Carrots, smoked & roasted over the embers smashed with heather honey & butter to smoosh on bread (v)
Beef brisket, slowly roasted over the fire until tender with rosemary & pepper
Served with rich sauce
For our vegetarian guests
Roast onion, barley & potato pie with Strathearn cheese (v, g)
Crispy potato & swede terrine (v)
Roast January King cabbage (v)
Braised leeks, finished on the fire with cheddar rarebit (v)
Raspberry cranachan tart with whisky cream (v, g)
As ever - The Mowbray Bar will have curated a clutch of specialist cocktails designed to complement the feasting menu. We’ll also have our full bar menu available as well.
How To Book
Arrivals are from 18.00 if you’d like to start early at the bar!
We’ll be inviting you to take your seats for dinner at 19.30 - with the Feast beginning at 19.45.
Just let us know if you’ll be joining us early - otherwise we’ll see you from 19.00.
